The Risks

Protecting children

As with the real world, there are two aspects to safety and they change as children grow.

  • When they are young, we hold their hand and only take them to safe places. Safe places have fences and security features, such as play leaders or lifeguards.

  • As they grow, we teach them how to keep themselves safe by learning what the risks are and by giving them strategies to help them (e.g. ‘Green Cross Code’ in the real world, and ‘SMART’ online).

Education has been altered by the new technologies. The benefits are too many to list here and the changes are significant.
