The National Curriculum
What existed before 1989 and what is the place of ICT within the National Curriculum?

ICT in the Curriculum
ICT exists in two distinct forms - it's a subject in its own right but it's also a powerful tool for use right across the whole curriculum.

ICT is a Subject
This section contains everything you need to know about the subject, ICT. It includes useful charts which show what children at every age and level should be doing and which link to the QCA scheme of work for ICT. It also has a complete description of each of the themes plus a set of useful charts - invaluable maps of the skills of ICT and their relationship to the QCA Scheme of Work:

ICT is used in all Subjects
ICT is a powerful tool that can enhance and extend every single subject in the curriculum. These days ICT should be completely embedded in every aspect of a school - from use in every subject through to management systems and an on-line Learning Platform so that learning can continue at home and not be divided by the bell into artificial chunks.

Why is it called ICT?
It's called "IT" in every country in the world and also in every other field except education in Britain. So why on earth does UK Education insist on calling it ICT? Find out here.

History of ICT

Learning Platforms
A Learning Platform is an on-line space which pupils, teachers, school managers and parents can all access from home, school or any Internet-connected computer. It works in many ways and can benefit everyone in the school.

Articles
These are article on subjects of interest that I've written. Some are about education or ICT in schools but many are not. All interest me and I hope that some of them will interest you.

The Future
The future, like the past, is a foreign land. They do things differently there. Yet we are educating our children to be active citizens in this unknown world. Here are the clues which will help you understand what's needed.
