This is the story of a cottage

ome is a stone and slate cottage which was built in 1732. It's called Berry Cottage. Owning it is a fascinating experience. Apart from the fact that there isn't a straight wall anywhere, there is the sobering knowledge that it was built before such familiar names as Beethoven, Mozart and Napoleon were even born.

Many generations of people have owned the cottage before us and although we think of it as ours it’s impossible to escape an awareness of the fact that we are only holding it in trust until we pass it on to its next guardians. It's a great responsibility which is not lost on us. If we spoil it, a piece of English history will be lost forever.
